SERVICES

SERVICES

There are two components of the practice that interact closely with each other. The philosophy of treatment recognizes the totality of the individual in their life situation, which includes the interconnection of services, as well as external relationships of the individual to the family and larger social groups.

Psychotherapy

This intervention is provided by independently licensed clinical social workers. The format of these services are individual and/or group sessions. Late adolescents (16+) and adults are treated. The sessions typically run for 3-6 months, unless assessed for further treatment.  Treatment is tailored to the needs of the individual and is guided by an individualized treatment plan based on a comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment of the individual and his/her family, if appropriate.

Psychiatry

Services provided to clients within this category are provided by psychiatrists. The services are provided with associated staff and billed via psychiatrist’s office. Services include: consultation, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology and services.

POPULATION

ADULTS

Adults seeking mental health treatment continues to rise with early adulthood (18-34 y/o) ranking the highest. Acceptance of mental illness is increasing making this population more acceptable of treatment. Although stigmatism regarding mental health treatment remain an issue within the community, seeking treatment is on the rise within individuals of the adult population.  Community health factors such as health and well-being, economical, social media, political, spiritual, substance misuse and violence are common triggers that influence overall mental health. Working with today’s adult population helps to provide stability within the community.

PROFESSIONALS

With the state of today’s economy and the need to solidify a stable financial future (retirement), many professionals are faced with a tremendous amount of stress. The scrutiny, pressure and the expectation to outperform competition causes stress. The inclusion of environmental stressors (family & health) magnifies the intensity.

Research shows, business professionals are visiting primary care physicians at an alarming rate due to stress related illnesses such as high blood pressure, chest pains, heartburn and insomnia. Creating healthy responses to stress can help minimize it because let’s face it, stress is inevitable.

Athletes

As a former athlete, I remember the challenges I faced preparing for games and the life as an athlete. I remember being expected to perform at my best EVERY game. I remember, the life stressors occurring during the season and not being able to process them before a game. The pressure. The great expectations. The team goals. The personal goals. The wins. The losses. The fame. The “fish bowl”/pedestal each athlete is placed on by members of the community and family.

Participating on sports teams is more than what meets the eye. Each athlete endures a tremendous amount of stress and is expected to overcome the stress and perform exceptionally well each game, match or set. Mental block occurs when an individual endures a stressful or painful event that inhibits them from performing at their best. Athletes experiencing mental block can benefit from psychotherapeutic services to assist in identifying underlying causes and techniques to minimize or eliminate mental block. Thus, presenting ideal mental capacity to perform during sporting events.
